Why Murfreesboro men and women choose Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu over standard gym memberships.
Ego-Free & Safety First
You have a job, a family, and responsibilities. Our adult program prioritizes safety above all else. We train with controlled partners who help you learn, advance, and leave every class injury-free.
Functional Strength & Conditioning
Tired of mindless treadmills? BJJ is physical chess. You burn calories, build full-body endurance, and improve core stability while learning a real martial art that keeps your brain fully engaged.
Practical Self-Defense
BJJ is founded on the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger assailant using leverage, angles, and body mechanics. Master control on the ground with zero punching required.
Your First Day: Step-by-Step
Stepping into a martial arts gym for the first time should be exciting, not intimidating.
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to the most common questions before your first adult class.
Do I need to be in shape before I start?
No! That is the most common myth in martial arts. You don't get in shape to do Jiu-Jitsu—you do Jiu-Jitsu to get in shape. Our classes meet you at your current fitness level, and you can take breaks whenever you need.
What should I wear for my first trial class?
A standard t-shirt or rashguard and athletic shorts or sweatpants (without zippers, buckles, or metal buttons). We train barefoot on sanitized tatami mats. You do not need to buy a Gi (uniform) for your trial.
Am I too old to start Jiu-Jitsu?
Never. Many of our adult students started in their 30s, 40s, or 50s with zero athletic or martial arts background. Because BJJ relies on leverage instead of raw speed or explosive power, it is a martial art you can practice for a lifetime.
What is the difference between Gi and No-Gi?
Gi training uses the traditional martial arts uniform (jacket and pants), allowing grips on fabric to control your opponent. No-Gi is practiced in shorts and a rashguard, focusing on body hooks and wrist control. We provide training in both formats.
